A new semester has started and new assignments are handed out. This semester has a cluster where you could make a choice on what assignment you wanted to do. The choices were Drawing, Interaction & 3D, Audio & Video and Installation Art.
I have chosen for Audio & Video and the assignment this year is to make your own music video clip. The duration must be at least 3 minutes, so we got quite a task infront of us to get enough video material and compose the audio track. We have been asked to work in groups to gather the video material since it is impossible for one person to do it all alone. So the groups have been set up with 4 roles. Producer, Director, DoP (Director of Photography aka Camera man) and Creative Director. With this group we have to go through all the phases of an actual production, so preproduction, production and postproduction. At this point we have a concept for the video to make a modern version of romeo and juliet story and to shoot it in a dogville setting.
'Dogville is a 2003 movie written and directed by Lars von Trier, starring Nicole Kidman, Paul Bettany, Lauren Bacall, Chloë Sevigny, Stellan Skarsgård and James Caan. It is a parable that uses an extremely minimal set to tell the story of Grace (Kidman), a fugitive from mobsters, who arrives in the small town of Dogville and is provided refuge in return for physical labor.' - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogville
I am the Creative Director. ('A creative director is ultimately responsible for the quality of the final creative work. They are often praised highly when their team's efforts win awards, but conversely, the creative director shoulders the negativity when a project goes wrong, response falls short of expectations, or an important individual dislikes the idea') and for this assignement i am in charge of the Mise-en scene (clothing, props, make up, decor) Atmosphere (lighting, background, special effects (i.e. fog in a ghostly town) and last the visual FXs.
Once the project is complete i hope to get the music video online in a good quality. |
